Abstract

This article examines the role and possibilities of endogenous (internal) factors in ensuring the financial stability of higher education institutions (HEIs). Dividing the factors that affect financial stability into endogenous and exogenous groups, the author analyses the mechanisms by which stability can be achieved specifically through the internal factors that an institution itself controls — revenue diversification, the effectiveness of financial management, human capital, educational quality and reputation, research and innovation activity, cost optimization, digital transformation, endowment funds, and governance. The study argues that endogenous factors form the long-term and durable basis of financial stability, but that they take effect only in an inseparable connection with exogenous factors. International experience and practical recommendations for the conditions of Uzbekistan are presented.

Keywords higher education institution, financial stability, endogenous factors, revenue diversification, financial management, endowment fund, human capital, autonomy, cost optimization.
